Stocked Trout

To ensure a healthy surplus of table sized fish for our anglers who like to take some home for the pot we regularly restock the fishery with triploid brown trout around the 2lb mark. All our fish are sourced from Franklyns fish farm in Alresford, using a fish farm on the same river system as us allows us to maintain biosecurity and minimize transit times for our fish ensuring they're released in top condition. Our trout are transported by 4x4 vehicle in specialized tanks to the water's edge, they are supplied with oxygen during transport. As part of our work to improve stocking practices we tag the majority of our trout with numbered Floy Tags, we ask that our anglers please report all tagged fish to us ideally including: the tag number, the location, and whether the fish was retained or released. Our tags are all prefixed LBF followed by three digits (LBF 001, LBF 002, LBF 003 etc, we would also be very interested to hear from any angler who catches one of our tagged fish from any other water on the system. 

We do not stock Rainbow Trout on this fishery however the odd one does appear from fish farm escapes or other fisheries with consent to stock them, these do not count towards your bag limit and as long as you plan to eat them we encourage you to take them for the table if caught in season.
